Ski lifts are one of the most important parts of any winter resort. Very few (if any) people enjoy climbing up the side of a mountain on foot, and without the typical chair lifts, tourist traffic to these resorts would dramatically decrease.Fortunately, most of the main winter sports destinations in the world are aware of this, and actively work to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

In France, the major La Tania ski resorts are no different. They have launched a €140 million plan to renew their transportation equipment, in a six-year plan that will see a brand new six-seater lift installed by 2019. It's good news for visitors visiting the French resorts, who currently have to keep putting their skis on and taking them back off every time they enter one of the ski lift ‘eggs’!The new unit, called the Bouc Blanc, will stretch across most of the main La Tania ski resorts, ranging from the bottom of the current lift of the same name to the top of the one serving the area known as the Crests. This new configuration will result in some alterations to the existing chairlifts, with the the current Bouc Blanc ski lift being foreshortened to mostly serve the slalom stadium, and the Praz Juget lift being permanently closed down.

A second chairlift, called the Forest Lift, is scheduled to open in the winter of 2015, and should further facilitate transportation.These two lifts will replace the current Bouc Blanc line, and the distinctive coloured ‘eggs’ mentioned above have already been put on sale this past September. The new chair lift will offer a higher degree of comfort, versatility and mobility to customers of La Tania ski resorts, who will now be able to travel between Courchevel, Praz and La Tania without having to remove their skis. The new chairlift’s course also winds through some pleasant forested areas, giving snow aficionados something to look at during their ascent to the slopes.The new lifts are being built as part of an unprecedented renovation plan devised by the Societé des 3 Vallées (3-Valley Society), which controls the main La Tania ski resorts. The plan was kick-started last December with the inauguration of two new transportation units, at Biollay and Petit Moriond. Further measures to take place over the next seven years include renovation and maintenance work on the slopes themselves, improvements on the existing equipment, and new, environmentally friendly installations.
